Effective
The short version
The calculators run entirely in your browser, and we never send what you type to anyone. There are no accounts, and we count visits on our own server without cookies or anything that identifies you. The site shows ads from Google, which uses cookies to choose them; the advertising section explains what that involves and how to opt out.
What you enter
Prices, rates, incomes, payments and every other number you enter are calculated on your own device. We don't upload them, and the site doesn't keep them unless you ask: close the page and they're gone, unless you keep the link or save the loan.
Counting visits
To know which pages are useful, the site counts page views on its own server, with no script in the page and no cookies. For each view it records only the page, the country Cloudflare reports, the website you came from (just its name, such as google.com), whether you're on a phone or a computer, and whether the request looks like a search engine's robot. It doesn't record your IP address or anything else that identifies you or links one visit to another. The counts are kept for three months, in Cloudflare's analytics service.
Light or dark
If you pick light or dark with the theme button in the header, your browser remembers that one choice (in its local storage, as “theme”) so every page opens the way you like. It never leaves your device, and switching back to automatic removes it.
Saved loans
If you use “Save this loan” in the calculator, or on the balance and payoff amount pages, the loan's numbers and the name you give it are kept in your browser's local storage (as “savedLoans”, or “savedBalances” for the balance pages), so you can open it again later. They stay on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else. Delete a loan in the list to remove it; clearing your browser's data for this site removes them all.
Share links
The address in your browser holds the numbers of the calculation on screen, after the #. Browsers
never send that part of an address to a website, so it doesn't reach us, our host or advertisers. Anyone you
give the link to can see those numbers, and if you paste it into a chat or email, that service stores it like
any other message. The link contains only the calculation's numbers, nothing about you.
“Copy a link” puts the link on your clipboard only when you press it. The site doesn't read your clipboard.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic request details (the page requested, your browser type) to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Cloudflare also tells the site which country a request comes from, which is used only to decide whether to show ads (see below). We don't use any of this to identify or track you.
Advertising
The site is paid for by ads from Google AdSense. When a page shows ads, your browser loads them from Google, so Google and its partners receive the details any website gets (your IP address, browser and the page you're on) and can use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites.
- Google's advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and others on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's My Ad Center, and from other vendors' personalized ads at aboutads.info.

The ad code runs on the same page as the calculators. We don't pass it anything you enter, but like any script on a page, it runs alongside the page's contents.
Where there are no ads. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland currently get no ads and no ad cookies, and neither do visitors whose country isn't known.
Your choices in the US
Some US states give you the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. The site shows Google's privacy message where those laws apply, with a link to opt out. Google also reads Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends it from a state whose law requires it, Google shows only non-personalized ads. Anywhere, you can block or delete cookies in your browser.
Children
The site is for adults making decisions about home loans and isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page will be updated first, with its effective date.
